SCOTLAND'S BEST STREET MAPS!
Ronald P A Smith has published nearly 100 maps, covering about 650 towns and villages in Scotland. Since 1980, when the first street plans were compiled, they have been produced to a consistently high standard of detail, clarity and accuracy; over 2,000,000 copies of our maps have been sold.
The maps are a unique LARGE-scale record of the communities covered. NO OTHER major series of street maps or street atlases covering Scotland shows a comparable level of detail and such a wealth of relevant information, which has been regularly checked and updated by personal survey, and fully indexed. Sadly, in 2008, we had to take the decision to temporarily cease publication of our maps, owing mainly to the closure of small, independent shops and petrol stations and the effective exclusion of our products from most supermarket/petrol station chains which insist on supply via 'national' (UK) companies, principally A-Z which won't stock our maps. Competition from greatly inferior (but 'free') internet mapping is also a factor, although lately we have experienced an upsurge in sales once again, perhaps simply because online mapping is so poor.
We are still open for business for sales to the retail trade and individual customers. Traditionally, sales have been through good bookshops (including Waterstone's), newsagents, post offices, stationers, petrol filling stations, tourist information centres and public libraries, although you can order direct from us - click on 'Map Ordering' button below. Also now available - a superb selection of old Bartholomew maps, mostly suitable for framing and great as gifts - click on the button at the foot of the page! |
